Moving Body Playground
In May 2023, Megan Bathory-Peeler, Elaine Colandrea, and Melanie Gambino return to the natural beauty of Shantigar to bring you the magical delights of Continuum. This year, the focus is on the more active and dynamic aspects of Continuum practice referred to as Continuum Playground.
One of the key characteristics of a healthy system is the ability to adapt to constantly changing demands of the biosphere. By moving our bodies fluidly, in a multiplicity of positions and situations, we can get beyond the culturally imposed rigidities, fixations, and limitations so many of us experience in daily life. Human bodies are at least 70% fluid. About 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water. By engaging the potency of fluid movement, Continuum powerfully reconnects us to our essential biology and our interconnectedness to all life on this planet.
Moving Body Playground offers the unique opportunity to work with specific Continuum equipment – the Explore Board and Flight Plan – as well as familiar household furniture, and the trees, rocks, and the land itself, when out of doors. Shantigar’s natural playground makes it the perfect place to spend a weekend focused on building strength and resilience through creative and dynamic play. This immersive retreat invites us to extend the scope of our ability to connect inside ourselves, outside in nature, and through time and space with one another.
