RESEARCHING JOY: OCTOPUS MEDICINE LAB with Megan Bathory-Peeler

Tuesday July 12 • 5:30-8:30 pm EDT • OUTDOOR STUDIO • Riverview Picnic Area • Northfield, MA

As the world around us continues to be in constant flux, trusting our own inner wisdom and honing our listening skills has never been more important. What would our lives be like if joy and pleasure are what motivated us? What if we embraced movement as the medicine that brings us health and vitality? What would it be like to experience stillness from deep inner and outer peace instead of being immobilized by fear, anxiety and dread?

Why Octopus Medicine? Change is an unavoidable part of life, and life only becomes more difficult (and dangerous) when we resist its natural flow. Change proves that growth is happening. The invitation of the octopus is to embrace change as creativity in motion.

The incomparable somatic intelligence of the octopus comes from its constant subtle communication with everything it encounters with its sensing, perceiving, feeling body. There is rarely a challenge that the octopus cannot meet. The octopus can transform instantly to camouflage itself by mimicking the form, color and texture of another entity – for survival or playfulness.

The octopus’ completely fluid body can either contract to conceal itself in the tiniest crevice or expand its reach to cover great distances. What can we learn by perceiving and moving like a creature with a body so entirely unlike our own?
What if the magnitude of change so many of us are experiencing in ourselves and the world around us is a planetary metamorphosis in motion? What piece of Octopus intelligence are you carrying in your cellular imaginal disks and preparing to manifest when the time comes?

These Tuesday evening summer workshops are designed with the beginning and intermediate student in mind. They are designed for people who are ready to explore more deeply inside themselves and ask questions about the world around them. One of the most important principles of Continuum is that every moment is an opportunity to awaken fresh awareness and thus we are always striving to be in beginner’s mind - where everything is new.
